Biography: 

Maria Molina is an assistant professor of atmospheric and oceanic science with an affiliate appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.

Her research focuses on applying machine learning tools, such as neural networks and numerical modeling systems, to address critical questions in climate science and extreme weather events. Molina’s work aims to extend Earth system prediction, understand the genesis of extremes, uncover multi-scale patterns in the climate system, and promote open-source software, accessible communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
